Czech bid us farewell in an unforgettable way. As we were about to leave the country, we were stuck in a massive hailstorm. This only happens when you don’t take a full insurance. We almost felt that we have run out of luck and our rental car was going to face some serious damage. As we started to leave Cesky Krumlov, it started raining and the landscape was beautiful.

The rains as we left Cesky Krumlov

And in few minutes, suddenly the hails started hitting our car.

It all seemed like an interesting adventure, until the hails became bigger and started pouring faster than ever. All this when Thing 1 was really sick. We even pulled over and tried to get under a tree but that was not much help. These few minutes were one of the longest. All kinds of thoughts came across the mind

Then we slowly started again when the hails slowed down but the road looked white as if it had snowed.

The road was full of hails. It looked liked it just snowed.
The hails and rains almost stopped.

As we drove ahead, it was relief to see the sky and even the road clearing up.

Within few minutes, there was no hail, no rain and the roads we dry as ever. Nothing had happened here.

And we entered Austria.

These 30 kms from Czesky Krumlov to Austria border will remain in our memory for a long time. It would normally take under 30 minutes but we took over 2 hours.

We didn’t plan for us to be in such weather but this is an experience we will always remember. The short journey which we would have otherwise forgotten became a beautiful memory.

PS: This is what I discovered in my drafts section.
