Food
Food is one of the most important thing that defines your experience of a place.
And as vegetarians we have to work a bit harder when travelling out of India. Why we totally loved travelling in Tuscany was because we found amazing vegetarian food and great wine at the smallest village. But when we went to Spain, we found that there is nothing like vegetarian tapas!
This trip will be a bit different though. First, we are travelling for a year. Second, for kids these are the formative years and so we have to try hard to eat healthy.
It’s been almost a week in Sydney and we are finding ways to eat interesting and healthy food. We are cooking some, eating out and junking as well. Here are few of them which I highly recommend.

Located near the Bondi beach, this is an absolute gem. The food was absolutely delicious and they even had an entire page for vegetarian dishes. The portions of the dishes were huge and can be good for two people. We ordered Tom-Kha soup which was a meal in itself. All of the 4 vegetarian and 1 non-vegetarian dish we (and our friends) had were lip-smacking and was a lot of food for 4 adults and a kid. Apart from the food, the waiters were remarkable. They were literally running around and making no mistakes given the crazy rush at the place. Even the kitchen was one of the most bustling ones ever.

We found this on Tripadvisor while roaming around, and it was a really really nice Mediterranean restaurant. The decor was more modern and spacious. The service was fast and the people were nice. The hummus was awesome but pita bread was a bit cold for my taste. The falafel were good size and cooked very well and just yummy. We also ordered a salad and a main course dish as well. The portions were decent. Among 2 adults and 2 kids, we ordered 5 starters and a main course dish and it was a lot. At the end of the meal, we also got baklava and a turkish delight on the house. I would totally recommend this place.

This is a small busy Italian place off Oxford street in Paddington. We walked past it everyday couple of times as we stayed two building away and it was full all the time. Luckily our lovely host got us a table there one evening. By now you must have realised that, with kids we like busy and loud places! They had a very short menu. We had the golden zucchini salad, tapioca dish, a bread and a particular lumaconi (kind of a pasta). All of them were delicious. Though their tiramisu was to die for. They even had a decently big wine menu.
Risotto el Pomodoro

And finally one of the home cooked one! Today we had an amazing home-cooked meal. Boiled broccoli, carrots with hummus and the oh-so-yummy risotto el pomodoro (That’s how i like to call that dish ;) )
Highly recommended by our dear friend, Jason, we went to have the best gelato ever. I had the tiramisu flavour and it was to-die-for. Best Gelato Ever. Period.
We look forward to many more eating and cooking adventures. Please send in your suggestions and recommendations on how we can eat healthy.
On a side note, we are yet to figure out what Australian (vegetarian) cuisine is!
