- A lot of yellow taxis don’t have meters. They just charge anything. Sometimes a very short distance can cost you 500–800 rubles.
- Do not drink tap water. Only bottled water
- One has to be careful of your belongings. Pick-pocketing is prevalent.
- More so in Moscow, stand by a street which is huge and long and you will see motorcycles doing wheelies and cars skidding. Spend some time watching cars and bikes on Tverskaya street near Bolshoi theatre.
- Don’t smile around at people in the shop or restaurant and surely not on the street. They find it insincere.
- At most Italian restaurants, the water that you order is imported from Italy. Many are bottled in Florence!
- It is very safe to travel to Russia. People may seem cold but they warm up in sometime.
